Orthodontics is the art of straightening teeth. This can be done
at any age , in fact almost 25% of orthodontic patients today are
adult. Treatment may require an appliance, or small brackets
attached to the teeth with wires to guide the tooth movement, or
both appliances and wires.
The young growing patient may require a 2 phase
treatment.
Phase one allows appliance therapy to guide the growth and
development of bones of the face and jaws for a more optimal
appearance. This is started before growth is finished. Early
diagnosis is important to treat with these orthopedic
appliances.
Phase two is braces, brackets and wires. This treatment may be
done at any age, and can dramatically improve your smile.
We try to avoid removing adult teeth
where ever possible in the process of straightening your teeth.
